2020 BLUE MOUNTAINS TREK FOR TIMOR has gone VIRTUAL!
The Blue Mountains Trek for Timor is a biennial trekking event held to raise funds for crucial education and development projects in Timor Leste. The last event held was on 25th August 2018. But Trek for Timor 2020 has been thwarted by fires, storms and finally COVID-19 so there is no way we can safely organise a physical trek this year.
The good news is that we are hosting a Virtual Trek so you can participate from wherever you like and continue to support our wonderful projects in Timor.
Planned projects in Timor Leste are still underway and without this fundraising event there will be a significant funding gap that we need to manage.
We would welcome any donations to continue to support the education and development work by clicking the Donate button in the right hand side bar here –> Feel free to check out what the funds from 2018 were used for HERE. Our work in Timor is extremely valuable and it is valued. We are inspired, energised and buoyed to continue our important work there, within Hatobuilico and in other parts of the country
VIRTUAL TREK FOR TIMOR – VT4T
The Virtual Trek for Timor is a fundraising event based wherever you like! Trekkers commit to a distance, cumulatively over a 1 month period from Wednesday 1st October 2020.
The distance options are 10km, 20km, 50km, and 100km.
Trekkers track their own mileage (this can be through any means available; estimates, maps, pedometers, strava, smartphone applications etc) and enter them into their personal page on the website.
The distance the trekkers cover plots along a simultaneous route through the East Timor interior, from the capital Dili all the way up to Mount Ramelau, the highest point in the country, standing at nearly 3000m above sea level and 100kms away. As the trekkers plot along the virtual route, there are many fascinating historical, cultural and environmental stories and journeys to discover!
REGISTRATIONS WILL OPEN SOON
