Auntie Carol Cooper has been a strong advocate for our work in Timor and every Trek for Timor Blue Mountains she has welcomed us to her country – Darug and Gundungurra land – and wished the walkers a safe walk in the country of her ancestors.
The Blue Mountains Trek for Timor is a biennial trekking event held to raise funds for crucial education and development projects in Timor Leste. The last event held was on 25th August 2018. But Trek for Timor 2020 has been thwarted by fires, storms and finally COVID-19 so there was no way we could safely organise a physical trek for 2020. So the Trek went virtual.
The Virtual Trek for 2020 has now finished, and has been a great success. Congratulations to all those who participated and a special thanks to all those who donated. Making payments for sponsorship is no longer possible but donations towards projects in Timor Leste are still most wecome. Please see the details for making direct deposits into the Together for Timor bank account in the sidebar to the right.
Feel free to check out what the funds from 2018 were used for HERE. Our work in Timor is extremely valuable and it is valued. We are inspired, energised and buoyed to continue our important work there, within Hatobuilico and in other parts of the country.
